ACONCAGUA ACCESSES AND TRANSPORTATIONS
The starting point is Mendoza, where you can arrive by highway or plane. Here you begin with the organization for an expedition to the roof of America. You reach Puente del Inca through the international highway which connects Argentina with Chile. It is asphalt in its totality and there is a regular bus service. The distance from Mendoza to Puente del Inca is 175 km.
From Puente del Inca or Punta de Vacas up to base camp, (Plaza de Mulas, Plaza Francia or Plaza Argentina) you can arrive only by foot or by mule. (LOS PUQUIOS MULES SERVICES)
For safety reasons it is advisable to use locked nylon bags (trekking bags) for the transportation of loads to and from the base camps. In order to save time it's advisable to contract a special agency wich will organize the expeditions.
"Aconcagua Trek" offers you services such as transport, hotel bookings in Mendoza and Puente del Inca, arrangement to obtain permissions, equipment transporting with its own mules, kitchen service with translator and permanent radio in base camp, dining-tent, benches, tables, etc.; rent of base and mountain tents, mattresses, cookheaters (and cartridges), white gas in plastic containers, provission of fresh and packed food and also technic advising. It'.s recommended to make your reservations as fast as possible, because of the great number of expedition we have in ascention time and limited capacities of services. |
